ANNOUNCING NEW RULES FOR
THE SPRING H*E*A*T OPEN, MARCH 9, 10, 11, 2012
AAF TANK MUSEUM, DANVILLE, VIRGINIA.
SPECIAL R/C TANK BATTLE RULES FOR THIS EVENT ONLY:
1) ALL TANKS WELCOME. "Bring what ya' got!"
(Note: R/C aircraft frequencies prohibited by the Museum; FanBan Apple prohibited by the Indoor Battlefield).
2) NO TANK INSPECTIONS HELD. "We trust you'll have everything in working order and up to standards upon arrival".
3) COMBAT STYLE = NO FAN SHOTS. "Gentleman's Agreement to self-police sweeping the barrel while shooting, but this is not Stop-n-Shoot Style, so it is okay to be advancing/retreating while shooting".
4) FRIDAY: MODIFICATION TO TANKS. "All tanks with Tamiya Apples (TBS) will be modified so the mirror pyramid is rotated 1/4 turn to the front, (TFA, as demonstrated in the YouTube video ), or a modified apple will be loaned to you. Later, a vote will be taken on whether to continue the frontal mod on Saturday and Sunday".
5) HAVE FUN! "Emphasis will be placed on getting as much stick-time as possible, so if your tank is not lined up at the Assembly Area by LAST CALL, then you must sit out that battle".
This format applies to THIS EVENT ONLY, as an experiment, and is not a change in the battlefield rules or the stated goals of the H*E*A*T club. The battle rules for the April Extravaganza and future events have not been determined.
Thanks and see you there!

OOH RAH!
A WWII USMC Sherman
A few months ago I happened to
acquire an M4 105mm Tamyia Sherman kit from the PX at the AAF Tank Museum in
Danville Va. I knew when I got it that I would not leave it in basic kit form
and that I had a particular version that I wanted to build. That was the one
used in the Pacific Theater of Operations as used by the USMC with the deep
water fording stacks at Iwo Jima. Well, I ended up doing a bit more to it than
adding the fording stacks. See what you think of it.
